Here's a quick introduction to the chakras from our course Chakra Balancing with Aromatherapy:
Chakras are energy centres, spinning wheels of light. The outside world is a reflection of our inner world and chakras act as energy vortexes, giving energy out and drawing energy back to us as. With our heart balanced and open, love flows out and back to us.
When any of our chakras are out of balance this affects us energetically, emotionally and physically. The body is a whole, and balancing one chakra will positively affect the other chakras, especially when it’s the heart we are supporting. We think of the brain as the control centre of the body, but I believe that the heart is the main centre, and so did the lovely Rumi who said;
“God is within your Heart. Look into your Heart. All the answers you need are already hiding inside of you.”
The heart chakra is located in the chest and is the bridge between the lower chakras and higher chakras. It is the love, and therefore healing, chakra.
Signs it is unbalanced can include jealousy, codependency, feeling needy, unhealthy boundaries, empathy and relationships, fear of getting hurt, as well as physical ailments such as poor circulation, heart and lung conditions and lowered immunity. The physical manifestation of dis-eases associated with the heart chakra tend to be linked to emotions such as sadness and grief. Depression and numbness can occur when we are not listening to ourselves, possibly we have barricaded our heart in fear of getting hurt. The following high vibration, pure oils can support our heart chakra to blossom:
Lavender, Chamomile, Rosemary, Sandalwood, Jasmine, Angelica, Hyssop, Melissa, Frankincense, Neroli, Eucalyptus, Geranium, Marjoram, Lime, Peppermint, Rose, Thyme, Tea Tree, Ylang Ylang
Choose whichever you feel drawn to, breathe in and rub clockwise onto your chest.
Make sure all of your essentials oils are diluted in 5 ml grapeseed oil or sweet almond oil (avoid this if you suffer from nut allergy) use 2 drops of essential oil.
A balanced heart chakra brings us acceptance, forgiveness, unconditional love, compassion and peace. Anahata in Sanskrit means unhurt, unstuck and unbeaten.
Nurture each chakra and in turn the whole, to align and become your greatest version.
